* LEGO MOVIE MAKING | VIRTUAL COURSE | GRADE: 1ST – 6TH

Course
Materials

Description:

Our LEGO Moviemaking takes your child to the next level with their stop-motion animation skills.  Students will go through a series of video lessons that will take students from start to finish, creating their own LEGO Stop-motion Movie.

Students will work to create a short story, draw it out, and build it with LEGO® Bricks, and then they bring it to life on film.

Students can use LEGO Brick and kits that they have at home to create their very own movie sets, and then create a movie complete with music and special effects.

Additional opportunities to work with your LEGO Stop-Motion Guide will be available offline as an additional virtual session for an additional fee.

Virtual Online courses are designed for students to learn at their own pace without any real-time instructor. The course content – lessons, prerecorded video lectures and tutorials, tests and quizzes, homework, and assignments can be accessed by the students enrolled in the course at any time, as long as the course is active and available.

Grades 1st – 6th

Requirements:

iPad/iPhone/Android/Any device that you can take a picture with. You will need to download the app called “Stop Motion Animation”. The free version has a blue icon, and the paid one is purple. We also recommend a LED Desk Lamp, plastic bag/cooking sheet/bedsheet, a quiet place to record audio, and LEGO Bricks!

Required Materials:

  • iPad, phone, or tablet with photo capabilities
  • Download a Stop Motion app (Our favorite is Stop Motion Studio)
  • Loose LEGO® Bricks (variety of sizes, as well as a couple of Minifigures)
  • LEGO® Baseplate
  • Phone or tablet stand (If you don't have one readily available, try to build one out of LEGO® bricks!)

Stop Motion Studio Instructions:

Open the app Stop Motion Studio to begin making your movie.

Pressing icons will turn on specific tasks in the app.

Such as starting a New Movie

The iPad will act as your camera. Where is the camera located on the iPad? Do you have any tools to help keep your camera still?

Once your Lego stacks are centered on your iPad screen, you may begin with making your movie by taking the first photograph.

A blurry photo can be fixed by tapping on your subject on the screen.

Move your Lego around one stud (bump) at a time. Take photos along the way. Every photo you take is turned into a frame and collected in order called a timeline.

Press the play icon to see your movie. How many frames do you have?

Locate and tap the exit icon to leave the movie.  Tap the title to change it. Rename the title with your first name. You are now done with the challenge. Enjoy your movie!!!
