Lesson 3 | Starting Your Comic Book

Today we will discuss the various parts of a Comic Book. What’s a comic, what are gutters, panels, etc.

Talk about Cover Page, centerfold, back page (credits)

Students break down their comic and determine guestimated amount of panels. How many drawings will it take for a character to wake up in the morning and defeat the villain in the end? 20 pictures? 100?

Homework:

Research online how you could find the best way to setup your comic book paper, or workspace. Do you think need a drafting desk? Do you think the floor would work best? How about lighting and distractions. Do you think listening to music could help improve your story?
