Discovery Camps Explained: Learning Through Play
Discovery-aged kids learn through play, movement, and hands-on exploration—and the right camp honors that.
Discovery is built for younger learners
Discovery Camps are designed for kids who learn best through play, movement, and hands-on exploration. We keep days predictable and supportive, with quick transitions, clear expectations, and plenty of time to create.
What your child may do in Discovery
- Explore nature and science through themed investigations (like insects, outdoor discovery, or simple experiments).
- Build with age-appropriate materials that strengthen fine-motor skills and confidence.
- Practice teamwork with guided group challenges.
How we run camp: agency with guardrails
Kids do better when they have real ownership and clear structure. At the start of the week, we invite campers to help create the group guardrails—shared rules they agree to follow—and we coach them on how to keep each other accountable respectfully. When disagreements happen (because kids are learning humans), we provide a Peace Table so they can talk it out and repair the situation with guidance when needed.
Find the right track
- Discovery (younger learners): play-based exploration with gentle structure and lots of movement.
- Explorers (ages 8–12): bigger builds, deeper challenges, and more independence.
- Pathfinders (teens): real tools, real projects, and real responsibility.
