Eco Engineers — Renewable Energy Challenges for Young Innovators

Eco Engineers: Renewable Energy Challenges is one of the camps families ask about when they want something more than “keep my kid busy.” It’s hands-on, project-based, and built for kids who learn best by doing. We offer camp experiences across Central Texas and partner locations, with age group groupings that make it easy to find the right fit: Discovery (younger learners), Explorers (elementary/middle), and Pathfinders (teens).

What is Eco Engineers: Renewable Energy Challenges?

Eco Engineers is a hands-on engineering camp with a sustainability focus. Campers explore wind, solar, and water energy through building challenges and creative experiments. They learn how engineers use renewable energy to solve real-world problems, then design their own solutions through guided projects.

Best fit: Ages 8–12 | Explorers. If your child loves building, creating, experimenting, and talking through ideas out loud, they’ll feel at home here.

Camp highlights

  • Renewable energy exploration through hands-on builds and experiments.
  • Engineering challenges that connect science to real-world systems.
  • Team projects that encourage collaboration and leadership.
  • A final design challenge focused on building something that ‘works.’

A peek inside the week

Every location has its own rhythm, but the learning arc stays consistent: launch the day with a question, build and test, reflect, then iterate. Here’s a typical flow you can expect:

  • Energy basics: what renewable sources do and how they’re used.
  • Build challenges: test designs, collect results, revise.
  • Team innovations: combine ideas for better solutions.
  • Final showcase: demonstrate builds and explain design choices.

What your child practices (without it feeling like school)

  • Engineering mindset and design thinking.
  • Scientific reasoning and experimentation.
  • Team collaboration and communication.
  • Confidence presenting and explaining work.

Why parents choose this camp

Families tell us they’re looking for a camp where their child is engaged, supported, and proud of what they create. We build the week around student agency with clear guardrails: kids help set the rules, practice collaboration, and have a peaceful way to resolve disagreements. That combination keeps the room calm and productive while still giving kids real freedom to create.

Is this the right fit for my child?

This camp tends to be a great match for:

  • Kids who love building and want a real-world purpose.
  • Students curious about the environment and sustainability.
  • Learners who enjoy testing and improving designs.
