Game Masters — Board Game Design Camp for Creative Thinkers
Game Masters: Create, Play & Pitch Your Own Board Game is one of the camps families ask about when they want something more than “keep my kid busy.” It’s hands-on, project-based, and built for kids who learn best by doing. We offer camp experiences across Central Texas and Tampa, FL, with age group groupings that make it easy to find the right fit: Discovery (younger learners), Explorers (elementary/middle), and Pathfinders (teens).
What is Game Masters: Create, Play & Pitch Your Own Board Game?
Game Masters blends entrepreneurship, art, strategy, and teamwork. Campers study classic board game mechanics, brainstorm a theme and objective, then design a playable prototype with rules, artwork, and pieces. They playtest other teams’ games, collect feedback, and refine their design before an end-of-week pitch-style showcase.
Best fit: Ages 8–12 | Explorers. If your child loves building, creating, experimenting, and talking through ideas out loud, they’ll feel at home here.
Camp highlights
- Theme and mechanics brainstorming that turns ideas into real gameplay.
- Prototype building with cards, boards, pieces, and rule design.
- Playtesting and feedback loops that improve the game’s fun factor.
- Pitch practice: campers explain and demo their game to an audience.
A peek inside the week

- Prototype sprint: build a working version quickly.
- Playtest arena: swap games, give feedback, and revise rules.
- Pitch day: demo and present the finished game.
What your child practices (without it feeling like school)
- Entrepreneurship mindset: create, test, refine, present.
- Systems thinking and strategy.
- Writing and communication through rules and storytelling.
- Collaboration and feedback.
Why parents choose this camp
Families tell us they’re looking for a camp where their child is engaged, supported, and proud of what they create. We build the week around student agency with clear guardrails: kids help set the rules, practice collaboration, and have a peaceful way to resolve disagreements. That combination keeps the room calm and productive while still giving kids real freedom to create.
Is this the right fit for my child?
This camp tends to be a great match for:
- Kids who love games and want to create their own.
- Students who enjoy storytelling and strategy.
- Learners who like a project with a real finished product.
