LEGO® Maker: Fun & Games — Build Interactive Games with LEGO®

LEGO® Maker: Fun & Games is one of the camps families ask about when they want something more than “keep my kid busy.” It’s hands-on, project-based, and built for kids who learn best by doing. We offer camp experiences across Central Texas and Tampa, FL, with age group groupings that make it easy to find the right fit: Discovery (younger learners), Explorers (elementary/middle), and Pathfinders (teens).

What is LEGO® Maker: Fun & Games?

Fun & Games blends creativity, engineering, and play. Campers design interactive games using LEGO® bricks—mini-golf style builds, robot hockey, spinning challenges, and more—while exploring motion, energy, and simple mechanics. Many locations incorporate age-appropriate coding with WeDo 2.0 or Spike Essential, so kids can make their creations move and respond.

Best fit: Ages 5–8 | Discovery. If your child loves building, creating, experimenting, and talking through ideas out loud, they’ll feel at home here.

Camp highlights

  • Interactive game design using LEGO® bricks and simple machines concepts.
  • Optional beginner coding with age-appropriate robotics kits.
  • Daily challenges that invite creativity and iteration.
  • End-of-week game showcase where campers play each other’s creations.

A peek inside the week

Every location has its own rhythm, but the learning arc stays consistent: launch the day with a question, build and test, reflect, then iterate. Here’s a typical flow you can expect:

  • Day 1: game design basics and foundational builds.
  • Midweek: motion challenges—make it move, score, spin, or launch.
  • Late week: refine gameplay, improve reliability, and add creative storytelling.
  • Finale: showcase and play day.

What your child practices (without it feeling like school)

  • Early engineering thinking: build, test, improve.
  • Problem-solving and persistence.
  • Collaboration and sharing materials.
  • Creative storytelling and design choices.

Why parents choose this camp

Families tell us they’re looking for a camp where their child is engaged, supported, and proud of what they create. We build the week around student agency with clear guardrails: kids help set the rules, practice collaboration, and have a peaceful way to resolve disagreements. That combination keeps the room calm and productive while still giving kids real freedom to create.

Is this the right fit for my child?

This camp tends to be a great match for:

  • Younger builders who love LEGO® and learning through play.
  • Kids who enjoy inventing games and changing the rules to make them better.
  • Students who gain confidence when they can see success quickly.
