LEGO® Movie Making — Stop-Motion Storytelling for Creative Kids

LEGO® Movie Making is one of the camps families ask about when they want something more than “keep my kid busy.” It’s hands-on, project-based, and built for kids who learn best by doing. We offer camp experiences across Central Texas and Tampa, FL, with age group groupings that make it easy to find the right fit: Discovery (younger learners), Explorers (elementary/middle), and Pathfinders (teens).

What is LEGO® Movie Making?

In LEGO® Movie Making, campers become directors, set designers, and storytellers. They build sets with LEGO® bricks, storyboard a three-act story, then capture stop-motion animation frame-by-frame. Kids learn how to plan a scene, create smooth motion, and add simple sound and music for a finished mini film.

Best fit: Ages 6–12 | Explorers. If your child loves building, creating, experimenting, and talking through ideas out loud, they’ll feel at home here.

Camp highlights

  • Story-first filmmaking: plan, storyboard, and shoot.
  • Set design and visual storytelling using LEGO® builds.
  • Collaboration: teams share roles like director, animator, and editor.
  • A finished stop-motion film to share with family.

A peek inside the week

Every location has its own rhythm, but the learning arc stays consistent: launch the day with a question, build and test, reflect, then iterate. Here’s a typical flow you can expect:

  • Story development: characters, conflict, and plot arc.
  • Build sets and props, plan scenes and shots.
  • Animate and revise: learn pacing and smooth motion.
  • Final edit and showcase of completed films.

What your child practices (without it feeling like school)

  • Storytelling structure and planning.
  • Creative collaboration and role-sharing.
  • Patience and attention to detail.
  • Confidence presenting finished work.

Why parents choose this camp

Families tell us they’re looking for a camp where their child is engaged, supported, and proud of what they create. We build the week around student agency with clear guardrails: kids help set the rules, practice collaboration, and have a peaceful way to resolve disagreements. That combination keeps the room calm and productive while still giving kids real freedom to create.

Is this the right fit for my child?

This camp tends to be a great match for:

  • Kids who love LEGO® and storytelling.
  • Students who enjoy animation, film, or creative projects.
  • Learners who like working in pairs or small teams.
