In 1906, Henry Ward died in a hit-and-run accident in Buffalo, NY. Police never solved the crime. Now, students can take a look at this cold case and decide who they think killed Henry’s word by analyzing DNA, Blood type, Hair analysis, fingerprint, and more.
The beloved Otis Spunkmeyer is kidnapped and the students have to figure out which of their staff members took their warm chewy cookies. The ransom note is written in Spanish, cut from different local newspapers and appears to have some sort of red stain on it. There is also some white powder and soil left near the note and, for the final nail in the coffin, students will determine whose DNA is on the envelope the note was found in.
This cold case has an attention-grabbing environmental twist. Students must analyze macro-invertebrate images, hair samples, glass samples, lip prints, DNA data, and even consult “FakeBook” pages to try to deduce the mysteries surrounding Crystal Creek.
