LEGO® Engineering & Coding: Smart Moves — Build and Program Autonomous Systems

LEGO® Engineering & Coding: Smart Moves is one of the camps families ask about when they want something more than “keep my kid busy.” It’s hands-on, project-based, and built for kids who learn best by doing. We offer camp experiences across Round Rock, TX and Georgetown, TX, with age group groupings that make it easy to find the right fit: Discovery (younger learners), Explorers (elementary/middle), and Pathfinders (teens).

What is LEGO® Engineering & Coding: Smart Moves?

Smart Moves focuses on robotics as transportation and autonomous systems. Campers build and program vehicles and robots, then test them on custom tracks and challenges. The learning comes from iteration: kids discover quickly that small code changes can dramatically change performance.

Best fit: Ages 9–14 | Explorers. If your child loves building, creating, experimenting, and talking through ideas out loud, they’ll feel at home here.

Camp highlights

  • Build and program robotic vehicles and systems with real-world themes.
  • Challenge tracks that teach precision, planning, and debugging.
  • Engineering habits: test runs, data-based improvements, and redesigns.
  • Team challenges that build collaboration and leadership.

A peek inside the week

Every location has its own rhythm, but the learning arc stays consistent: launch the day with a question, build and test, reflect, then iterate. Here’s a typical flow you can expect:

  • Build day: vehicle design and basic motion programming.
  • Track challenges: straight lines, curves, and precision control.
  • Autonomy upgrades: sensors and smarter behavior as appropriate.
  • Final challenge: timed course and design showcase.

What your child practices (without it feeling like school)

  • Coding logic, debugging, and iteration.
  • Mechanical reasoning and build stability.
  • Problem-solving under constraints.
  • Communication in teams.

Why parents choose this camp

Families tell us they’re looking for a camp where their child is engaged, supported, and proud of what they create. We build the week around student agency with clear guardrails: kids help set the rules, practice collaboration, and have a peaceful way to resolve disagreements. That combination keeps the room calm and productive while still giving kids real freedom to create.

Is this the right fit for my child?

This camp tends to be a great match for:

  • Kids who love robotics and want deeper coding practice.
  • Students who enjoy optimizing and improving performance.
  • Learners who like systems and strategy.
