Teen Filmmaking — Script to Screen (2-Week Intensive)

Teen Filmmaking (2 Weeks) is one of the camps families ask about when they want something more than “keep my kid busy.” It’s hands-on, project-based, and built for kids who learn best by doing. We offer camp experiences across Round Rock, TX and select partner locations, with age group groupings that make it easy to find the right fit: Discovery (younger learners), Explorers (elementary/middle), and Pathfinders (teens).

What is Teen Filmmaking (2 Weeks)?

Teen Filmmaking is a true script-to-screen experience. Over two weeks, students work through pre-production (story, screenwriting, gear and planning), production (filming), and post-production (editing, sound, music, delivery). Teens learn how to lead a set, collaborate as a crew, and finish a film they can be proud of.

Best fit: Ages 13–17 | Pathfinders. If your child loves building, creating, experimenting, and talking through ideas out loud, they’ll feel at home here.

Camp highlights

  • Full filmmaking pipeline: pre-production to post-production.
  • Real crew roles: director, camera, sound, editor, producer.
  • Storytelling fundamentals and screenwriting practice.
  • A finished film and a better understanding of media creation.

A peek inside the week

Every location has its own rhythm, but the learning arc stays consistent: launch the day with a question, build and test, reflect, then iterate. Here’s a typical flow you can expect:

  • Week 1: story development, scriptwriting, planning, and filming basics.
  • Week 1–2: production days with scenes, coverage, and collaboration.
  • Week 2: editing, sound design, music, and final delivery.
  • Final showcase: screening and discussion of process.

What your child practices (without it feeling like school)

  • Leadership and collaboration in a real project environment.
  • Creative problem-solving under constraints.
  • Technical filmmaking skills: shooting, editing, and audio.
  • Storytelling and communication.

Why parents choose this camp

Families tell us they’re looking for a camp where their child is engaged, supported, and proud of what they create. We build the week around student agency with clear guardrails: kids help set the rules, practice collaboration, and have a peaceful way to resolve disagreements. That combination keeps the room calm and productive while still giving kids real freedom to create.

Is this the right fit for my child?

This camp tends to be a great match for:

  • Teens who love movies and want to learn how they’re made.
  • Students who enjoy storytelling, performance, or behind-the-scenes roles.
  • Creative teens who want a serious, skill-building experience.
