LEGO® Maker: Inventors Workshop — Brainstorm, Prototype, and Build

LEGO MAKER: Inventors Workshop is one of the camps families ask about when they want something more than “keep my kid busy.” It’s hands-on, project-based, and built for kids who learn best by doing. We offer camp experiences across Round Rock, TX and Tampa, FL, with age group groupings that make it easy to find the right fit: Discovery (younger learners), Explorers (elementary/middle), and Pathfinders (teens).

What is LEGO MAKER: Inventors Workshop?

Inventors Workshop is for the kids who are always building something ‘new.’ Campers brainstorm ideas, prototype with LEGO® bricks, then test and improve their creations. The focus is on engineering habits—planning, testing, and revising—while keeping the mood playful and encouraging.

Best fit: Ages 5–8 | Discovery. If your child loves building, creating, experimenting, and talking through ideas out loud, they’ll feel at home here.

Camp highlights

  • Invent-and-innovate builds that encourage original thinking.
  • Hands-on prototyping: brainstorm, test, refine.
  • Engineering exploration through kid-friendly design challenges.
  • Creative confidence: kids learn to stick with a build and improve it.

A peek inside the week

Every location has its own rhythm, but the learning arc stays consistent: launch the day with a question, build and test, reflect, then iterate. Here’s a typical flow you can expect:

  • Design lab: choose an idea and build a first prototype.
  • Building challenges: adapt to constraints and new goals.
  • Engineering lab: improve function and reliability.
  • Prototype test and showcase: explain what changed and why.

What your child practices (without it feeling like school)

  • Design thinking and iteration.
  • Spatial reasoning and early engineering concepts.
  • Communication: explain what a build does and how it works.
  • Confidence through persistence.

Why parents choose this camp

Families tell us they’re looking for a camp where their child is engaged, supported, and proud of what they create. We build the week around student agency with clear guardrails: kids help set the rules, practice collaboration, and have a peaceful way to resolve disagreements. That combination keeps the room calm and productive while still giving kids real freedom to create.

Is this the right fit for my child?

This camp tends to be a great match for:

  • Kids who love building and don’t want to stop at the instructions.
  • Students who enjoy experimenting and revising.
  • Younger learners who do best with hands-on challenges.
